Over 40 years
Over this time we have developed the necessary instruction techniques to get the most out of every student. See Our System page for more details.
Our Style, Care, and Experience
Our Style:
Tae Ryu-Jitsu is an integrated style of many styles. Our students become masters of multiple systems. Whereas other dojos make you pay for extra classes to learn other martial arts styles they offer, or only focus on one martial arts system. It also makes transferring to our system easy as students will have a good foundation to start and still add to their skills. Our students can go to any other dojo and progress quickly as they have a broad foundation of skills.
Our Care:
Our classes are small and we provide individual instruction for each student and personalize everyone’s training.
Our Experience:
over 40 years of martial arts experience from Japan, Korea, Okinawa, and more. However, we bring this experience to our students through a structured training program that has produced many black belts and lifelong learners. You will study under a Martial Arts Master and become a Martial Arts Master. See Our System page for details.
It varies by student
The time it takes varies with each student. Our training will give you the confidence of knowing that you can defend yourself in a variety of situations no matter your belt rank.
Seven Belts
There are 7 belts in our system. As students progress they earn different belts and stripes. See Our System page for more information.

In fact your child will become more disciplined, focused, and controlled. Your child will know how to avoid bad or uncomfortable situations. The school teachers of our students can tell a Tae Ryu-Jitsu student as their behavior is exceptional and they are good citizens.
Yes
While injuries are always possible, we go to great lengths to ensure our students are always safe. We do not allow our students to begin contact until they are absolutely ready. All classes are strictly monitored to ensure safety. We require protective gear whenever physical contact is possible.
Yes, its easy
And you will not lose your rank!
Transferring is easy with Tae Ryu-Jitsu as we offer many styles and transfer students fit very well into our system. We work to ensure transferring students can continue on their developmental path. See our Transferring Students page for more details.
Not to get started
To get started a karate uniform is not necessary. We do recommend students get a martial arts uniform as soon as possible as this makes martial arts much more fun and involved. Please see the question How can I purchase a uniform and equipment for details.
None to get started
Our instructors will inform you once the student is ready for physical contact. The equipment that is required at that point is:
helmet, mouthpiece, hand guards, shin guards, foot guards, and protective cup (males)
With us or on-line
Our instructors can order equipment on your behalf and help ensure you get the right equipment. However, equipment can be purchased by you at a variety of on-line sites. Below are a couple of examples:

Yes, at your pace
As we age health issues are common. You can work at your own pace and only do the activities that you are comfortable with. This is what makes martial arts very unique. We do ask that you consult a physician if you are concerned about your health.
As Often As Possible
We offer a flexible program to meet the needs of our students. Students can practice up as often as we have classes for the students age group.
90 minutes
We give our students the most for their money. Classes for adults are typically 1.5 hours and youth classes are typically 1 hour. It's OK if you need to leave early.
Other dojos only offer 40 - 50 minute sessions with 20 minute warm up and 10 minute cool down. So that's only about 20 minutes of training.
Stop in and see how much VALUE you get for your money with us.
That's OK
Make up classes are allowed at no additional cost
Yes
Yes and we make sure students are training with others of similar capability. However, many of our students see a great amount of progress and request to train with higher rank students to accelerate their learning.
Please let us know if you would like to practice with your child.
It varies
Students test when the instructors see they have mastered the necessary skills to move to the next rank. Also the student’s attendance record and dedication is taken into consideration. Please see Our System page for details
Practice
Our instructors work with each student every class to ensure they are mastering the necessary skills. Students are also provided with the requirements to move up in rank. We encourage all students to practice at home as well as in class to perfect their skills.
